“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he
asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard
that there is a Holy Spirit.” “Then what baptism did you
experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism
of John.” Paul said, “John’s baptism called for
repentance from sin. But John himself told the people
to believe in the one who would come later, meaning
Jesus.” As soon as they heard this, they were baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid
his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and
they spoke in other tongues and prophesied. There
were about twelve men in all.
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”
Can any person be a believer in Christ?
Can a person be a FOC without having the Holy Spirit
in their lives?
1 Corinthians 12:13
ome of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are
slaves, and some are free. But we have all been
baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share
the same Spirit.
Romans 8:9
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in
fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does
not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
Ephesians 1:13
And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the
Good News that God saves you. And when you
believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by
giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long
ago.
1 Corinthians 14:2
For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but
to God; for no one understands him, but he utters
mysteries in the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 14:4
A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened
personally
1Corinthians 14:1,3b
Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts,
especially that you may prophesy…he who prophesies
edifies the church.
Acts 19:8-10
Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly
for the next three months, arguing persuasively about
the Kingdom of God. But some became stubborn,
rejecting his message and publicly speaking against
the Way. So Paul left the synagogue and took the
believers with him. Then he held daily discussions at
the lecture hall of Tyrannus. This went on for the next
two years, so that people throughout the province of
Asia—both Jews and Greeks—heard the word of the
Lord.
A true Follower of Christ has the Holy Spirit living in
him.
2 Corinthians 5:17
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has
become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life
has begun!
Galatians 5:22-25
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our
lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no
law against these things! Those who belong to Christ
Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their
sinful nature to his cross and crucified them
there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the
Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
As FOC who have the HS living us, we live our lives
beyond repentance, place our faith in Christ and
grow.
John 16:13
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into
all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you
what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
1 Corinthians 2:10
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his
Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and
shows us God’s deep secrets.
